Douglas and Carson High School baseball both had a few players pick up all-region honors for the spring of 2023.
Leading the way was Tigers senior starting pitcher Kaden McIver, whose excellence on the mound this season earned him a first-team all-region selection.
In 59.2 innings pitched, McIver had 105 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.87.
His WHIP (walks and hits/inning pitched) was a suburb 1.07 and he allowed just 16 earned runs all season.
SECOND TEAM, OTHERS
Joining his teammate on the all-region team was Douglas junior middle infielder Carter Bleeker.
Bleeker put together a .318 batting average at the plate and had 11 extra-base hits, including eight doubles and two triples.
The junior knocked in 15 RBIs over the course of the spring and scored 20 runs.
• Carson High’s first selection came on the second team, which included third baseman Cooper Eaton.
Per MaxPreps, Eaton had a .244 batting average with four doubles and a home run.
• The second Senator to earn second-team honors was Aden McNabb, who tossed a no-hitter this spring along with several other impressive outings.
• Carson had a pair of players make the honorable mention list while Douglas added four of its own.
For the Senators, senior Decarlo Quintana and junior Jordan Seiben earned all-region honors. Quintana hit .245 and was a staple at first base for Carson while Seiben had a team-best 2.80 ERA, per MaxPreps.
For Douglas, reliever Robert Williams and center fielder Thomas Young picked up honorable mention honors, as well.
Williams tossed 25 innings during his junior season, putting together a 3.08 ERA and recording 19 strikeouts.
Along with his ever-impressive defense in the outfield, Young hit .300 for Douglas with four doubles, a triple, a home run and 10 RBIs. He also had 17 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.
Joining those two were Jackson Ovard and Jacob Davis.
Ovard posted a .290 batting average for the Tigers with three doubles and 11 RBIs while Davis hit at a .261 clip with three RBIs of his own.
