More than 250 cars attend Big Mama's

More than 250 vehicles turned out for the 21^st Big Mama’s Car Show in Gardnerville’s Lampe Park.

One organizer said that they had nearly 200 pre-register and more showed up on Saturday morning.

“We charged them $60 and you know what they said, ‘We don’t care, it’s for a good cause,” a Young at Heart Senior Citizen’s Club member said, who was judging cars said.

"We had over 250 cars on display, probably the largest car show in the Valley," Young at Heart President Paul Osserman said.

The good cause is senior programs like Meals on Wheels conducted by Douglas County Community Services.

"We endeavor to continue to raise money to support the seniors in Douglas County," Osserman said.

The show wrapped up at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with winners expected to be announced at 3 p.m.

It’s still early in the classic car season, with Genoa Lakes Golf Course is hosting a Rare & Exotics Car Show 2-6 p.m. May 28 to raise funds for the Eagle Valley Children’s Home.

Registration is $25, with $10 going to the cause.
