Update: All lanes of Highway 395 are open after state transportation officials hoisted a Jeep Cherokee out of the Carson River.

A man was taken into custody for driving under the influence early Monday morning after the Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving ended up partially submerged in the Carson River off Cradlebaugh Bridge.

Douglas County deputies were flagged down at about 3:30 a.m. by the man after he drove off Highway 395.

The 1995 Jeep was northbound on the highway when it left the highway, drove through a fence, went back through the same fence and then down the rock embankment and landed in the river, according to the Nevada State Police.

The man didn’t sustain any serious injuries but was taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs and obstructing officers.

State Police and the Nevada Department of Transportation closed the northbound slow lane of Highway 395 until the Jeep could be pulled from the river.

Members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team were called to the scene around 8:10 a.m. Monday to help extract the Jeep from the river.
