Genoa, Nev. — A 5-percent fee increase is up for first reading by the East Fork Fire Protection District Board of Trustees 1 p.m. today. The new fees would take effect Sept. 1 if trustees are amenable.


School board trustees will discuss implementing a policy allowing district employees who are parents of school-age children to take up to four hours a year of unpaid leave to attend their children’s school functions at their meeting 4 p.m. today at the Douglas High School Media Center.


Trustees will also discuss updating policies prompted by changes in state and federal law implemented this year protecting pregnant and nursing mothers and survivors of domestic violence.


Douglas County Mosquito Abatement is fogging for skeeters in Minden after 9 p.m. today and in Winhaven and Monterra after 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to director Krista Jenkins.


Minden broke the record for warmest low on Monday morning with 66 degrees, according to R-C Weather Watcher Stan Kapler.


The thunderstorms on Monday were off to the east around Fallon. There’s a chance we could see some after 2 p.m. today. Otherwise, the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 95 degrees, with the west wind 15-20 mph this morning gusting to 30 mph.
