The New Year’s storm may have caused a lot of problems across Carson Valley, but for two newlyweds, it was a fairytale.
Jennifer Villanueva and Sergio Villanueva were married New Year’s Eve at the Minden Gazebo.
“We had originally planned to get married in Lake Tahoe, but no one could have predicted this storm,” said Jennifer.
She said as their special day got closer and closer; the snow kept coming. The groom headed up Highway 50 only to be stopped and turned around due to multiple accidents and snow conditions.
“We had hoped for some snow, but not so much that we couldn’t make it up the hill.”
At the last minute the couple changed their plans and got married in the Minden Gazebo with just their kids in attendance. Just as they were finishing their vows the Christmas lights came on.
“It was really like a fairytale and it was truly something we will never forget,” said Jennifer.
