Genoa, Nev. — A proposal to pipe 920 feet of the Henningsen Ditch due north of Glenwood Drive was denied by the Water Conveyance Advisory Committee after a two-hour hearing on Monday. The ditch crosses three properties of 47 acres accessed by Wyatt Lane. Board members and downstream users David Hussman and Charles Hone had to recuse themselves, so the vote was 3-0-2.

Business was literally booming at Heavenly on Sunday as the ski resort conducted avalanche control. People could hear the blasts all over Carson Valley. Like the smoke rising from the prescribed burn in the mountains above Genoa, it is all part of living in the shadow of the Carson Range.

Gardnerville Town Board members are conducting a design review for the Maverik at Highway 395 and Stodick Parkway. The town is also reviewing the design of the replacement for a new structure replacing Joe Benigno’s Tree Service that burned in March 2021. Town board members meet 4:30 p.m. today in the town offices, 1407 Main St.

Electing officers and discussing the budget is on the agenda for the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board members meeting 6 p.m. today at the Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville.

Another nice winter’s day is in the forecast for today with partly sunny skies and a high near 44 degrees. The low tonight is expected to hit 21 degrees with a little bit of a breeze.
