Genoa, Nev. — Parishioners at St. Gall conducted a prayer service on Monday in connection with the April 23 death of Fallon Montanucci and the sentencing of wrong-way driver Matthew Premo. The courtroom was filled with supporters from both families to hear the verdict.

Premo got the maximum 16-40 years for DUI with death and DUI with injury after a three-hour sentencing hearing. You could hear the sobbing in the courtroom as both sides presented their cases. As Paula Montanucci said from the stand, there are no winners.

Deputies shooed a bear away from the Judicial & Law Enforcement Center on Monday night. The furry burglar wandered over to TJ’s Corral at last report around 9 p.m., looking for something to eat.

The chance of rain on Saturday is firming up in the forecast along with a snow level dropping to 5,600 feet that night. While the odds of actually seeing rain or snow appear fairly slim, the low temperature will almost certainly drop below freezing over the weekend.

We’ll see some light cloudiness today as the forecast high climbs to 78 degrees and overnight low drops to 38. A northern breeze is expected this afternoon at 5-10 mph. The weather won’t change much this week until Saturday when it starts to cool off.
