The Minden and Zephyr Cove branches celebrate with special kickoff events on June 8.

In Minden, the fun takes place at the C.V.I.C. Arastoo’s puppets are all handmade and inspired by cultures and people she’s met throughout her worldly travels.

Arastoo’s puppet theater performance is scheduled in the Zephyr Cove Library meeting room at 2 p.m. that day and will be followed by an ice cream social.

Other celebratory events scheduled during the summer reading program include a June 30 performance by the Japanese drum group, Taiko Tsurunokai, who play traditional Japanese folk music and their own originals. The Zephyr Cove performance starts at 2 p.m. in the library meeting room, and the Minden performance takes place in the C.V.I.C. Hall starting at 4 p.m.

The Summer Reading Finale is scheduled for July 28 and features a Wildlife Show by the Conservation Ambassadors. The Zephyr Cove Branch’s finale will be held 2 p.m. in the Zephyr Cove Library meeting room, and the Minden finale takes place 4 p.m. at the CVIC Hall.
