Last week dozens of law enforcement officers ran through Douglas County, carrying the names of seven fallen comrades to Carson City for the 25th annual Peace Officers Memorial.

Today, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office hosted an open house Wednesday at the Judicial & Law Enforcement Center, 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden.

The event featured K-9 demonstrations, the SWAT team, Bike Team, Motorcycle Unit, Sheriff’s Office Vehicles, Marine Boats, Explorers, Search and Rescue, jail walkthrough and many other special units and vehicles of the Sheriff’s Office.

Among the vehicles available for the public to view were the department’s MRAP, an armored rescue vehicle designed to protect law enforcement while responding to dangerous situations. The community also toured the jail, and people experienced the Virta use of force trainer.
