Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County Library trustees will discuss recruitment of a new director at their 10 a.m. meeting today at the Minden Branch, 1625 Library Lane. They’ll also be reviewing the bylaws they approved last year.

About two-score Douglas High students participated in the first meeting of the “Next Gen Republicans,” on March 16. Minden resident Sean Meehan of www.guardtheconstitution.com spoke to students about the Constitution, according to Virginia Nisse.

Nisse, who is Douglas County Central Committee Voter Registration Chairwoman, said that formal petitions to change Nevada’s laws on voting by mail and voter ID are coming soon. Contact the Central Committee at douglasgop.org or 775-782-4467.

June Lake Loop opened for traffic on Monday after being closed for the season since Dec. 16. None of the other seasonal routes through the central Sierra have opened yet, but I expect we’ll see Monitor Pass open in early April.

It’s going to be a warm opening week to spring with highs climbing toward 80 degrees by Thursday and Friday. There appears to be a little bit of weather on the horizon on Sunday. The lows look like they’ll remain at or above freezing this week.

Expect mostly sunny skies today with the high hitting 68 degrees and the wind out of the east at 5 mph, shifting northeast in the morning.
