Genoa, Nev. — It’s snowing on Mount Rose, but dry as a bone on Kingsbury so far this morning as a storm moves south toward Carson Valley. The best chance for precipitation in Minden is 8-10 a.m. today.

Lyon County Commissioner Ken Gray filed for Assembly District 39. He will face Gardnerville resident Blayne Osborn in the primary. Yerington assemblywoman Robin Titus and Gardnerville assemblyman Jim Wheeler both filed for James Settelmeyer’s senate seat last week. All four candidates are Republicans.

Former Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Chernock filed for the third open seat on the Gardnerville Town Board. As of Monday evening, Indian Hills remains the only district board with more candidates than seats. Filing continues through end of business Friday.

The 911 Surcharge Advisory Committee will discuss their budget 10 a.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden. You can find out more at douglascountynv.gov

Expect rain before lunchtime with a high around 58 degrees, with the wind out of the south at 10-15 mph, shifting to the west this afternoon. Gusts could hit 25 mph as the dry cycle hits.
