Genoa, Nev. — It’s going to be a busy day in Carson Valley today, starting with Douglas County commissioners hearing a factfinders’ report on negotiations with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Protective Association. The commission could instruct negotiators to wrap up a contract or send them back to the bargaining table.

Commissioners will also decide whether to approve a $145,000 Construction Manager at Risk contract with Core West to do preliminary work on the Douglas County Justice Center. Commissioners meet 10 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. For more info, visit douglascountynv.gov and click on agendas and minutes.

The Business Showcase is 3-6 p.m. today at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center in Gardnerville. Admission is free, as are the food samples and swag.

The Tahoe Fire & Fuels Team is taking advantage of mild weather to burn on Lake Tahoe’s east shore including near Spooner Summit this week. Don’t be surprised to see a plume in northwestern Douglas and in western Carson City.

Expect sunny skies with the forecast high near 63 degrees and the wind picking up to 5-10 mph this afternoon. Friday is supposed to crack 70 with temperatures warming up through the weekend.
