Genoa, Nev. — Update: The Spirit of Tahoe was preparing to get underway at 8 a.m. this morning. Expect delays on Highway 88 and 89 going to Lake Tahoe this morning.

Douglas County commissioners are meeting with the audit committee 1 p.m. today to discuss the county’s financial report. That tome is online for anyone who wants to brave its pages. There’s a lot of information in there about the county. Go to douglascountynv.gov and click Watch Board meetings if you’re interested.

It looked like the weekend’s local shopping adventures in the Valley were successful. The parking lot at the Fairgrounds was reasonably packed with cars for the Country Market and I saw some folks doing some Small Business Saturday shopping.

Main Street Gardnerville is encouraging its participants to decorate their businesses for the holidays. I’ve already received photos of Karen Stage’s Christmas display at 1409 Marlette Circle. I’ll start a list of addresses for publication in the paper this week from people who wouldn’t mind visitors checking out their decorations.

Warm conditions are expected to continue into Thursday as we wrap up November without a drop of rain in the forecast. We could see something early next week, according to the forecast, but until then, high pressure is keeping the storms at bay.

It’s going to be unseasonably warm today with a high temperature forecast to reach 68 degrees in Minden. It’ll have to warm up another half-dozen degrees to touch the record of 74 degrees set in 1995. Expect sunny skies again today and Tuesday.
