Genoa, Nev. — The tenants of a building approved for a synagogue are appealing the approval. The synagogue now owns the building. Douglas County commissioners are going to have a long slog today. They meet 10 a.m. in the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden. You can follow along online at www.douglascountynv.gov


A revised vacation home rental ordinance was approved by planning commissioners on Wednesday, as was the pet crematorium on Industrial Way in Gardnerville. Commissioners and the public will get to weigh in on the ordinance at today’s meeting.


Genoa Town Board members urged Town Manager Matt Bruback on Wednesday to get every penny he could from American Rescue Plan Act funds to fix the foundation on the town church.


Former County Commissioner and longtime Minden Gardnerville Sanitation District trustee Bob Allgeier died on Friday at Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center. A date for a celebration of life is pending.


Deputies are looking for a walkaway from China Spring this morning. The teenager is 6-foot, 1-inch tall wearing a gray sweatshirt and was last seen headed for Highway 395 through the Pine Nuts.


The spring temperature roller coaster is forecast to reach the top today with 81 degrees under sunny skies. Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend, plunging to 50 degrees by Tuesday before they start to recover.


Expect sunny skies and the wind calm picking up out of the northwest at 5 mph. The record high for today is 84 degrees, so we’ll see how that goes.
