A little big of history played out along Buckeye Road on Friday morning.

Cowboys were out roping and branding calves on Park Cattle land north of Minden.

At least one person stopped to capture the action on a cell phone, and there was a photographer working from the other side.

Carson Valley has a long history of cattle ranching, with the Park family owning property here for around 150 years.

The Parks first homesteaded land in the Carson Valley in 1871.

Cattle drives and branding parties were once common sights across the Valley.
