Douglas High football falls at Damonte Ranch
The Tigers were forced to push back their kickoff with Damonte Ranch last week by about 22 hours, due to a COVID result within the program.
After only one day of practice, Douglas fell 42-6 to the Mustangs in the Class 5A Northern Nevada contest.
Aden Flory was 7-of-17 through the air for 117 yards and a score.
On the ground, the Tigers’ rushing attack was only able to produce 35 yards on 25 carries, limiting the offensive firepower.
On the flip side, Damonte Ranch put together nearly 500 yards of offense and 298 yards rushing.
Carson Smith led the way with 126 yards on 19 carries.
Defensively, Douglas linebacker Gabe Foster had a team-high 11 tackles in the loss while Alex Flores had seven tackles and a tackle for loss.
Foster and Ben Schinzing each recorded an interception, too.

Douglas High girls’ soccer shuts out Spanish Springs
A 2-0 shutout win over Spanish Springs Tuesday night marked the third win in a row for the Tiger girls’ soccer team.
Camden Miller and Aleeah Weaver scored for Douglas in the win off assists from Hannah Shaw and Kylee Lash.
Saturday, Douglas took down Reed 3-2 behind two scores from Helene Henry-Greard.
Campbell Dedmon scored the second goal in the win off an assist from Henry-Greard.
UP NEXT: Douglas (3-1-2) will head to Damonte Ranch (1-3) Saturday with the Mustangs coming off their first win of the season over Carson High.
Douglas boys’ soccer loses tight contest with South Tahoe
The Douglas High boys’ soccer team fell to 1-1-2 on the year after a 1-0 loss to South Tahoe on Friday.
UP NEXT: The Tigers turn around and travel to Bishop Manogue (1-1-1) Wednesday, as both teams will look to gain an edge after a 2-2 draw in their first meeting.
Douglas boys tennis caps regular season with two wins
The Tiger boys’ tennis team ended the regular season with their first two wins of the season, coming against Damonte Ranch and Spanish Springs.
Douglas picked up a 12-6 win over the Mustangs last Friday before besting the Cougars 14-4 Monday afternoon.
Liam Garrison had two singles wins for Douglas over Damonte Ranch and Spanish Springs. Roland Norris also put together three singles wins over the two contests.
It was doubles where the Tigers excelled.
Douglas went 8-1 on the doubles court against the Mustangs and the Cougars.
Douglas girls’ tennis aces last two matches
With back-to-back 12-6 wins over Damonte Ranch and Spanish Springs, the Douglas High girls’ tennis team sits at 4-3 on the year with one final match remaining on its schedule.
Abigail Girdner and Joscelyn Turner were 5-1 on the doubles court over the two-match span while Maggie Hutchings and Taylor Reardon held serve on the singles court.
Paige Radelfinger also went 3-0 against Spanish Springs in singles after posting a 2-0 day against Damonte Ranch.
UP NEXT: Douglas will host Carson Friday afternoon in the regular season finale.
Tiger cross country competes with Reno, Manogue
Friday afternoon’s home meet brought Reno and Bishop Manogue to town to compete against the Tiger cross country team.
The top finish from Douglas came on the boys’ side, where sophomore Jackson Davis took third in 18:09.
Senior Soma Baligad was fifth for the Tigers in 19:06.
Of the girls’ competitors, Megan Strand and Elena Zarnecki were the two top runners for the Tigers.
Strand took sixth in 24:53 while Zarnecki crossed the line right behind her in seventh in 24:54.
UP NEXT: Douglas will travel to McQueen Friday for a dual meet.
