The July 15, 2021, R-C Morning Report

The trickster crossed my path as I was arriving home from Friday's earthquake in Walker. He stopped at a safe distance and we locked eyes before he went on his way and I went on mine.

Genoa, Nev. — A conflict between Gardnerville and the developer of a 159-project over trash collection goes to Douglas County commissioners today. Stoneridge Villas wants individual totes while the town wants them to do large trash bins. County commissioners are tasked with deciding whether to require the project to annex.

Douglas County commissioners will also be comparing building fees with surrounding locations. Douglas looks like it’s more expensive in several categories than Carson and Lyon, but not quite as expensive as Washoe. Commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St. For more information, visit douglascountynv.gov

I hear the water’s back on to the Tahoe-Douglas Elks Lodge after the system got clipped by a big pickup on Monday evening. Damage in the collision was estimated in the thousands.

The Main St. Gardnerville Third Thursday Wine Walk is 4:30-7:30 p.m. today. You can register at Gardnerville Station or Big Daddy’s.

Johnson & Johnson is recalling all lots of five Neutrogena and Aveeno aerosol sunscreen products for possible contamination with benzene. I bought a three-pack of the Beach Defense at Costco on sale last month. The heat wave may be over, but at 67 degrees it was pretty warm in Carson Valley this morning. After hitting a high of 94 degrees today, the low on Friday morning is supposed to drop down to 48, which is a little more like it. Expect sunny skies and the wind out of the west 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph.
