Genoa, Nev. — The Douglas County Board of Equalization upheld the Assessor’s $35.1 million valuation of Beach Club on Thursday. The high-end condo project was trying to get a discount because it hasn’t been built out yet, though they’re still selling condos.


Douglas County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue’s snowshoe team retrieved a lost hiker from the mountain on Thursday night after almost three hours. They’re recruiting, so if you’re interested, visit www.douglassar.org.


The parking lot at the Douglas County Fairgrounds was filled with cars of folks getting a coronavirus vaccination. Douglas Emergency Management reported nine new cases and a dozen recoveries on Thursday bringing the number of active cases down to 462.


Expect sunny skies and a high in the mid 50s today with the wind picking up out of the west at 15-20 mph, gusting to 30 mph. There’s a lake wind advisory out in the desert, which poses more of a danger to motorists due to blowing dust than to boaters.
