Classic cars rolled through Minden and as their drivers stopped for lunch today as Carson Valley kicks off two weeks of car events with the annual Hot August Nights Poker Run.

“Town of Minden and Carson Valley Visitor's Authority is proud to offer the Carson Valley’s scenic Minden Park as the official lunch stop for Hot August Nights participants,” town officials said. “The Valley Cruisers Car Club will be on hand to assist with parking.”

The authority and town are directing participants to the five Minden eateries, which include Kristopher’s, The Corner Bar, Paul Schat’s Bakery, Francisco’s Mexican Restaurant and Minden Meat & Deli. Restrooms are located in Minden Park as well as in the Minden Town Hall.

Organizer Mike Schiller is hoping Friday the 13th will be lucky for the Main Street Event in downtown Minden next week.

An even more classic car will be on display 10 a.m. Aug. 14 when the Silver State Model T Ford Club presents “The Car That Changed the World” at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. Admission is free.
