Trump’s despotic attack on media is unacceptable
Donald Trump’s recurring denigration and outright suppression of the news media is outrageous and unacceptable.
A free press is a cornerstone of our democracy. One does not have to agree with what is written, but all Americans have the right to express themselves.
How dare you, Mr. President? The tendencies of an authoritarian are always to control the narrative — by demonizing the free press and its legitimate activities, by denigrating and personalizing legitimate criticism, and shaping the public narrative through heavily biased and partisan news sources.
The slippery slope toward violating the First Amendment is getting a thick coating of ice. If we are to remain a free and democratic nation, we must work together to protect and support the Fourth Estate. Enough is enough.
