See Ed run

The Douglas County Education Foundation's second annual Run Ed Run 5K, 10K and Kids' Fun Run is Oct. 10. The organization hopes to raise $10,000 to kick off the 10k run on 10/10/10.

In this family event, participants can walk, run or stroll either the 5k or 10k course, which start and end at Douglas High School. The school demonstrating the greatest school spirit will earn $1,000 in prize money.

Bounce houses and health-related booths are open, and the CareFlight helicopter and fire trucks will be on hand at the event.

Register in person at Carson Valley Sports on Topsy Lane, or at Indigo Restaurant & Bar in Minden Village the evening before the race. Those already registered can pick up their race packets at Indigo that same evening. Race day registrations are accepted with an additional $5 fee.

Indigo hosts the "10K You Don't Have to Run" silent auction and social mixer, 5-9 p.m. Oct. 9, featuring a Runner's Special dinner and drink choices including a red apple martini. Information, 782-4300.
