Friends of a Topaz Ranch Estates man who was critically injured in a vehicle rollover on Wild Oat Mountain on Sept. 18 are holding a benefit to raise money for his treatment.
Joseph Knopp, 28, suffered critical head injuries in the accident that occurred when a pickup rolled 400-500 feet down the side of the mountain.
According to friends, Knopp is still in critical condition at the Renown Medical Center Intensive Care Unit.
He sustained severe head trauma, every facial bone has been broken except the left cheek bone, broken back and hand and foot fractures in the accident, according to benefit coordinator Jennifer Pickering.
Knopp grew up in Topaz Ranch Estates where he is the father of two children, and stepfather to three children. He works for a local construction company, and does not have medical insurance.
A benefit fundraiser concert is 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at Buckaroo's Saloon in Gardnerville. Live music will be performed by Wild Card.
All proceeds will be donated to a medical fund account on Joe's behalf, Pickering said.
"Participating businesses are greatly appreciated and the businesses will be strongly advertised," she said. "Family and friends of Joseph Knopp strongly appreciate any and all donations on his behalf. Above all, any and all prayers are strongly encouraged."
Knopp was the driver of the vehicle when it rolled.
Two other occupants, Bradley Stribling, 20, and Kenneth Pomeroy, 19, are recovering from their injuries.
