3 hurt in rollover at Sleeping Elephant

Three men were injured Saturday night in a rollover accident on the side of a mountain at Sleeping Elephant ranch in Topaz Ranch Estates.

East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said the three were in a pickup truck that was 4-wheeling at the site. He said the truck overturned and the passengers were ejected.

He said the driver managed to walk away from the scene and summon help.

The accident was reported at 7:53 p.m.

Taylor said Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue volunteers, deputies, firefighters and paramedics searched for the injured victims with the help of lights from Care Flight and CALSTAR helicopters.

The two men, with serious injuries, were found on the mountain about 9:30 p.m., Taylor said.

The passengers were taken by Care Flight from the scene to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. The driver also was transported.

Their names and medical conditions have not been released.

Taylor said the accident is still under investigation.
