Despite the rain and wind, our DCHS patrons and family supported our recent Taste of the Towns. Between your support and Thrivent's supplemental contribution, we raised $3,345. The weather was no match for your generosity.
All of us at DCHS thank you, the ticket buyers and museum supporters, and Thrivent Financial for your contribution to our success. Without you we would have to close our doors.
As the country's largest fraternal benefit society, Thrivent offers programs and outreach opportunities where members can connect with each other, learn new things, and help their communities and congregations. Other programs in Douglas County that Thrivent has helped sponsor include the recent Relay for Life and the upcoming cookie dough sale at Trinity Lutheran Child Care Center.
The historical society's final swap meet of 2010 is Saturday. Booth space is filled with vendors from as far away as Reno. Shopping starts at 8 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m. Get there early for the best deals. Then don't miss the street fair in Minden and all the other events taking place this September Saturday. Make a day of it and enjoy our beautiful fall weather.
Don't miss the final Thirsty Third Thursday crowd on Sept. 16 as they wind up the year on downtown Main Street. The walk goes from 4:30 to 8 p.m. and registration is at the Gardnerville museum starting at 4:30 p.m. The theme for this last walk is Hawaiian, so feel free to dress accordingly.
