EDITOR:
Recently five second-grade classes from Meneley Elementary were invited into several businesses in the Gardnerville Ranchos to learn about jobs in our community. Not only did the students learn about different careers, they were able to view the inner workings of local establishments. We would like to thank the following businesses for their time and generosity: 7-Eleven Food Stores, Silver Strike Lanes, Sheriff's Office Branch Office, Pizza Factory, and the United States Post Office. The students were particularly thrilled to receive complimentary slurpees, pizza slices, bowling passes, USPS Super Hero stamp puzzles, and information on where to get dog tags and bicycle registrations. Teachers were appreciative how the personnel at each location stressed the importance of reading, writing, and math for any career choice.
