Thanks for the tours

EDITOR:

The second grade teachers at C.C. Meneley would like to thank several of the local Ranchos businesses for accommodating five classes and 85 students during our first walking community field trip on the morning of Sept. 17.

Thanks to 7-Eleven for a store tour including free slurpees and snacks; to Pizza Factory for making and donating free pizzas and other goodies; to Silver Strike Lanes for a "behind the scenes" look at the bowling alley along with free passes; to the Ranchos post office for a personal tour and giant super hero stamps; and to Sgt. Halsey at the sheriff's substation for his thorough description of a sheriff's role in the community plus free badges.

The students, teachers and parents were all impressed with the friendliness and useful information that all the employees shared. We know that many other local businesses would have gladly contributed to this educational experience, but due to time constraints we could not visit all of them.

Thanks again for adding to our students' knowledge of the community.
