Hunt for ghosts during Haunted Weekend

Spirits from the past can be found on the streets and in the cemeteries of Carson Valley for the Douglas County Historical Society's Haunted Weekend running through Sunday.

Adventures continue today with the Haunted Gardnerville Ghost Walk. Walking tours of haunted sites in Gardnerville are $5 per person and depart at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. from the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.

Ghost hunters and history buffs are invited to Nevada's oldest non-Native American cemetery during the Haunted Mottsville Cemetery Tour, 6:30-8 p.m. Saturday. Guided tours depart every 15 minutes. Cost is $5 per person. The Mottsville Cemetery is on Old Foothill Road, one street east of the intersection of Foothill Road and Mottsville Lane. Watch for and follow signs to the cemetery.

Meet ghosts and learn about hangings, murders and suicides during the Haunted Genoa Ghost Walk on Sunday. The one and only tour departs at 11 a.m. from the Genoa Courthouse Museum on Main Street. Tickets are $5 per person.

Bring a flashlight, dress warmly and wear comfortable walking shoes.
