Kudos from Valley food closet

EDITOR:

Thanks again to this wonderful community. We are so thankful as this holiday season approaches that so many of you have come forward to volunteer and with food. The Closet Crafters Fair was a tremendous success as well and we thank you sincerely for shopping with us.

Each and every penny goes directly to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet as all of those items have been made and donated for our sale.

Thrivent is again sponsoring us and will be adding to the moneys collected as they did last year. Such a blessing. As Thanksgiving approaches we need to begin asking for your donations of turkeys and other traditional side dish foods for our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas meal giveaways.

Food donations received in October (in pounds): Douglas County Public Library (153), Mary Poell-Kuypers (9), Gold Dust West (94), Lira's, and we want to especially thank you for the support you have given us (301), St. Gall Catholic Church (434), Office Depot (280), Soroptimists (37), Quilt Shop (170), Christ Presbyterian Church (45), Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge (35), Belgian Blue Organics (250), Russell's Mercantile (24), Beta Sigma Phi Mu Master (48), DAWG (150), and Great Basin Physical Therapy (68).

As always we so thank those who prefer to remain anonymous as well as Raley's, Smith's, Scolari's, Walmart, Costco, Shell Country Store, and Gourmet Bakery.

Cash donations were received from Douglas and Marian Johnson, John and Elizabeth Williams, Virginia Crier, Mary Cyphens, David and Kathleen Hussman, David and Tina Tubridy, Marcella Oxoby, John Hamer, Diane Moore, Tom and Alexandra Peters, Timkin-Sturgis Foundation, and customers and employees of Raleys, Smith's and Scolari's.

If you have foods to donate, please call Kathy at 782-3711 to arrange a time or just stop by the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at 1255 Waterloo, Gardnerville, while we're open from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday to drop off whatever you can help with donate. Thanks again.
