A memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday at Fitzhenry's in Gardnerville for 18-year resident Alan Richard Kidney, 82, who died Feb. 28, 2010.
Born April 20, 1927, in Penarth South Wales, to Thomas and Jeannette Kidney, he married Valerie Thorne March 13, 1952.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Formerly of Santa Barbara County, he worked as a retail clerk. He enjoyed building model ships and gardening. Mr. Kidney was a member of the Church of England.
Mr. Kidney was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Thomas Kidney.
He is survived by his wife; sons Mike (Kathy) Kidney, Patrick (Margaret) Kidney; daughter Terry Ricks; sister Mary Zell; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Kidney was cremated by FitzHenry's. Interment will follow the service at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
