Richard Irving Scheetz, 82, a Gardnerville resident for the past 30 years, died Jan. 26, 2004, at his home. He was born July 29, 1921, in Missouri, to Chester C. and Willa Brewington Scheetz.
Mr. Scheetz was a U.S. Navy construction inspector for many years. He loved woodworking and fishing.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater where he earned a Purple Heart.
Among his survivors are his wife of 62 years Doris Lucille of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law Marsha and Sam Whitten; sons Terry and Alan; daughters-in-law Linda and Mary Anne; brother Guy; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be Saturday.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
