Woman who tried to dissuade victim in kidnapping allowed to look for work

A 19-year-old woman who allegedly attempted to dissuade a victim in a kidnapping case was told she can look for work while she is awaiting a hearing on the case.

Carson City resident Melissa Suzanne Goetz is accused of acting on behalf of Robert Pierce, 32, who faces felony kidnapping charges. Pierce is serving time in Douglas County Jail on a similar offense.

Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl told Goetz she could have time to look for work, but that she would otherwise stay on house arrest and continue to wear a GPS monitor.

Pierce is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in the case of a man who said he was taken out to the Pine Nuts, threatened with a knife and then left in the wilderness with only his socks and his underwear.

Another defendant, Timothy Young, 27, is serving a prison sentence on a similar charge that got Pierce a year in jail.
