Genoa, Nev. — Douglas County commissioners are scheduled to hear the final budgets for the county and the three towns 10 a.m. today to wrap up financial season at the Douglas County Courthouse.

There’s a great analysis in the packet for anyone wondering about Candy Dance’s contribution to Genoa’s bottom line. Spoiler: It’s significant.

A Sparks man died around 5:30 p.m. Sunday after being spotted floating in Topaz Lake. He was transported by East Fork medics to Carson Valley Health where he was pronounced dead.

There were 82 classic vehicles at the Holy Smokers Show and Shine, including Chet Ott’s work truck, welders and all, which is still in use, though Chet laid down his tools for the last time at age 95 in 2019.

Both plant sales on Saturday were well attended, with vehicles parked on both sides of Genoa Lane at the River Fork Ranch for the Master Gardener Native Plant Sale.

I asked when the best time to plant in Carson Valley, and the answer was “it depends.” Mostly on the weather, but also where you live, also. With the low forecast to dip down around 33 degrees tonight, you might want to cover sensitive plants.

Today’s forecast is for increasing clouds and a high temperature of 69 degrees and the wind out of the north 5-10 mph later this morning.
