Man allowed to go to drug court

A Gardnerville man was permitted to attend Western Regional Drug Court after he admitted to possession of a half pound of marijuana.

Dustin Andrew Rocher, 22, will be held pending the beginning of drug court after he told District Judge Dave Gamble he went to California and bought the marijuana for far less than it was worth and then brought it back to Gardnerville to sell.

"You're lucky you're not going to federal prison," Gamble said. "You just admitted to about five felonies. I'm very sensitive about people who abuse drug court. They don't want to have people who are given marijuana because they are such a good salesman. You won't have a good life or a good job as long as you sell marijuana for a living or even as a hobby."

Gamble asked Rocher who gave him the drugs and he refused to answer.

"People who don't care about the people who gave them drugs are people who are ready for drug court," Gamble said.
