Polls open in Douglas

The polls are quiet this morning in Minden and Genoa.

There was no line at the CVIC Hall in Minden, where seven townspeople are vying in the first primary in the town's history.

In Genoa, about 10 people had voted in the first 30 minutes, according to poll workers.

Genoa resident Brad Nelson said he was hoping for good leadership to come out of the election.

"We have some issues and problems and I think whoever we elect needs to focus on solving those problems," he said.

He said Nevada's first June primary had both good and bad aspects.

"It's so far ahead of the general election," he said. "It's nice to get it out of the way, but in five months there may be a lot of things that are different."

Genoans are voting in the town offices, instead of the Town Hall.

The polls close tonight at 7 p.m. Early voting and absentee results should be available shortly after polls close.
