Crab and steak feed benefit Friday

Tickets are available for the second annual Jethro's King Crab & Steak Feed, 5-9 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Jethro's Oven and Grille, 1281 Kimmerling Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Your choice of a one-pound serving of king crab legs or a 12-ounce rib-eye steak, both with all the trimmings, for $25. Hot dog meals include chips, soda or water and are free from children with a paid adult meal.

The event features music and a surprise guest. Live auction items include a fiddle signed by Charlie Daniels, dinner for 10 at JT Basque Bar & Dining Room, and a stay at the Carson Valley Inn with meals. Raffle items include a $500 shopping spree at Scheel's in Sparks or Lira's Market in Minden.

Proceeds benefit the MEFIYI Foundation, Austin's House and the Douglas High School Leadership Class.

MEFIYI donates to Douglas High School volleyball and provides college scholarships for the Molly Youth Awards.

The nonprofit MEFIYI Foundation's mission is to promote, encourage and support Nevada youth in amateur athletics, recreation programs, and physical fitness. MEFIYI stands for Me-for-Incredible-Youth, Inc. and was founded in 1997 by former NFL player JoJo Townsell and his wife Suzi Townsell.

Austin's House is the only emergency children's shelter in rural Northern Nevada. The children are placed at Austin's House after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. These children have no place else to go.
