The R-C Morning Report

Two workshops to gather information on what residents want to see in a new Douglas County school superintendent will be held in the Valley today. The first will be at Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School at 2:30 p.m. and the second will be at Carson Valley Middle School at 6:30 p.m. Two more schools, Meneley and Jacks Valley Elementary are on the list for Wednesday.

At 39 degrees in Genoa, it's warmer than it was last night. We had some rain last night. Fish Springs received a fifth of an inch since Monday morning. More than a tenth of an inch fell in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Heavenly reported 5 inches of snowfall over the last 24 hours. Kirkwood reports 10-12 inches.

Road controls are all in the mountains and include requirements for chains or snow tires over Kingsbury and Highway 50 at Spooner Junction. If you're going into the mountains, anticipate needing chains, four-wheel drive or something to get around.
