Wrestling: Douglas falls at home against Manogue

The Douglas wrestling team suffered a 52-36 defeat at the hands of the Manogue Miners Wednesday night in Minden.

Both teams were shorthanded coming in, leaving only seven contested matches of a possible 14 in the match. Of those, Manogue claimed four with three pins and a major decision to send the Tigers to their second league loss of the year.

Douglas' three wins in the dual all came by pins. Michael Sepulveda (130 pounds) started the evening with a quick pin. Cody Spates (140) followed two matches later with a pin of his own.

He scored a takedown a minute in against Manogue's Casey Pilling and converted the pin 23 seconds later.

The Tigers lost their next three contested matches before Wes Peterson scored a pin against Manogue's Hunter Burkett in the 119-pound match in just 45 seconds.

Douglas also got forfeit wins from Patrick Miller (275) and Dillon Spates (125) and double-forfeit points in the 112-pound class.

The Tigers will travel to the Alhambra Tournament this weekend.
