Youth public speaking class offered through 4-H

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension's free Speaking With Confidence 4-H Program may be just what youth need to conquer their fears and learn public speaking skills early in life. The course is 4-5 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 25- March 29 at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.

The program is designed for ages 9-19 years. Topics include controlling nervousness, interpreting body language, interviewing, and using audio-visual aids. Youth learn the importance of practicing and setting goals. The class is taught by Douglas County Extension educator Steve Lewis.

Interested youth do not need to be a current member of a 4-H club or pay fees. For information or to register, call University of Nevada Cooperative Extension at 782-9960. The 4-H clubs are youth development and leadership programs of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension.
