High Sierra Flycasters fundraiser March 6

Submitted by Bob Taormina

It's the time to start thinking about spring fishing, to get out to the lingering snow patches and the new green along the stream banks, and to feel the occasional icy breeze that reminds us of winter but is really a sign of spring.

What better way to get into the spirit than by spending an evening with a bunch of like-minded anglers in a friendly social setting?

The High Sierra Flycasters annual fundraiser is a great way to do this. There's a great barbecue, Liz and Don Weirach's slide show of the past year's catches and events, live music by Linda Sandstrom, and a well-stocked bar.

There's a silent auction, raffles for some nice stuff, and a door prize. There is no guest speaker or formal program, so there's nothing to interfere with a friendly drink, some conversation, and a little story telling.

The money we make is used to promote quality fly-fishing, educational programs, and to support events such as fishing retreats for cancer patients.

So if you would like to join us come to the CVIC Hall on Saturday, March 6. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Angler's Edge at 1506 Highway 395, Gardnerville. The no-host bar opens at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner is at 7 p.m. and seating is limited so if you want to go get your tickets early.
