The R-C Morning Report

Douglas County commissioners are meeting 1:30 p.m. today at the Lake Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline. Today's discussion includes a 90-minute strategic planning session, workshops on the open meeting law and procedures for commission meetings, and presentations on the comptroller's office and post employment benefits.

The Winter Whine and Chocolate Walk is 4:30 p.m. today. Bring a flashlight to the downtown event. Cost is $10 plus $5 for a commemorative Main Street glass. For information call 782-8027.

Douglas County is the healthiest county in Nevada according to the latest study released by an advocacy group trying to get us to smoke and drink less and work out more. I checked and if you moved Douglas to Utah, a far healthier state than Nevada, we'd be the sixth healthiest county, which is still not too shabby.

What was a possibility of showers on Friday night has since turned to rain likely starting just in time for the commute. The National Weather Service is forecasting .16 inches of rain Friday night and Saturday morning. It might even snow on Sunday night.

For today, the forecast is for sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s. We'll get a little breeze this afternoon, but otherwise it looks like another nice day.
