Possible life threatening injuries in Airport accident

The victim of a traffic accident at Highway 395 and Airport Road was helicoptered to Renown Medical Center with potentially life threatening injuries on Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 2:07 p.m. when a Ford Taurus pulled out from Airport Road into the path of a northbound Ford pickup.

The front of the pickup collided with the drivers side of the Taurus, spinning the sedan around, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Eddie Bowers.

Bowers said the driver of the Taurus was transported by CalStar helicopter to Renown Medical Center. He had no word on the person's injuries.

The driver of the pickup was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center by East Fork Ambulance with minor injuries. A dog riding in the pickup was uninjured and is in the care of Douglas County Animal Control.

The highway was down to one lane northbound.
