The Genoa Town Board renewed its conflict with the operators of two independent festival operators on Tuesday night, voting to recommend denial of their permits by Douglas County commissioners. Phil Stoll and Martha Williams submitted identical applications to those approved previously by the county. The two operate festivals in Genoa the same weekend as Candy Dance.

Gardnerville Town Board members said farewell to Tom Cook and Jerry Smith on Tuesday night. Cook term-limited out and voters chose not to return Smith for a third term on the board.

A wind advisory goes into effect at noon today as a new storm rolls into the area today. Expect winds 15-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Stronger gusts are possible in wind-prone areas such as Galena and Washoe Valley. On the other end of the front it will snow in the mountains and rain in the Valley.
