A proposal to require at least 100 hotel rooms to obtain an unrestricted gaming license is making the rounds again. Gardnerville approved the proposal being presented by the Community Development, but Genoans weren't too sure it was a good idea. Sharkey's Ron Terrell said the plan was to prevent small slot operations from opening in a storefront, but Genoa bed & breakfast owners said the county doesn't really need a bunch more rooms. The issue goes to the Minden Town Board 6 p.m. today at the CVIC Hall.

It appears the Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music Festival made between $40,000 and $48,000 according to preliminary accounting. That money will be split by Genoa and the Carson Valley Arts Council.

Early voting is going strong with 371 voters casting ballots on Tuesday, bringing the total so far to 2,911 votes. At the present rate, more than 10 percent of the electorate will have turned out early to vote. Friday will be the last day of early voting before the June 8 primary.

There's still 10 inches more snow in parts of the Sierra than should be for this time of June, but warmer temperatures are starting to make a dent. Ebbett's Pass lost 3.5 inches of snow-water equivalent in the last three days. There's still about 4 feet of snow on the mountain, but that's down a foot and a half from Friday.

Today we'll see partly sunny skies with a high near 75 degrees. The wind will be 10-15 mph with gusts of up to 25 mph. Expect the low tonight to be around 50 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies. There's a chance of rain on Thursday night and Friday.
