Man admits to felony drunk driving

A Sparks man, who allegedly caused a July 11 accident on Highway 395 near Airport Road and then fled across a field, has admitted to felony driving under the influence in Carson City.

Arthur Ross Porter, 22, who was charged with hit and run and driving on a suspended license in the Douglas County incident, faces 12-72 months in prison and up to $5,000 in fines when sentenced.

Porter was arrested Sept. 6 when Nevada Department of Wildlife Game Warden Ron Breaux was southbound through Washoe Valley and observed a Yukon, driven by Porter, failing to maintain a single lane, nearly striking another vehicle and driving in excess of 90 mph in a 70 mph zone.

Breaux, a commissioned peace officer, activated the overhead lights on his state vehicle and stopped Porter's vehicle near Nye Lane.

Porter was jailed after being tased and pepper sprayed following a short foot pursuit.
