Man admits resisting in highspeed chase

Minden, Nev. " A 34-year-old California parolee who led officers in two states on a highspeed chase pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony resisting a public officer with a dangerous weapon.

Marc Dubois admitted ramming a Douglas County sheriff's deputy's cruiser, but said he can't remember the incident.

According to reports, he was driving 50 mph when he hit the cruiser.

"I don't remember ramming them. They remember ramming me," Dubois said. "First and foremost, I am glad nobody got hurt. Anybody in my path was subject to death."

Dubois, of Crescent, Calif., said he and his fiancee were en route to his mother's home in Gardnerville and he was out of the 50-mile radius he is permitted on parole.

The vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of highways 88 and 395 in excess of 100 mph without headlights. Douglas deputies joined the pursuit and the vehicle turned right on Centerville Lane, ignoring stop signs and traffic signals.

The vehicle turned on Dresslerville at Centerville, continuing high speeds and the wrong traffic lane.

The truck raced over the Riverview Bridge and ran a red light at Highway 395, turning right.

Deputies, fearing the speeding truck would cause a major accident, forced the vehicle off the road near the Washoe Tribal Smoke Shop, causing minor damage to a patrol car.

District Judge Dave Gamble set sentencing for April 28.

Dubois faces up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
