Opposite of fast food is slow food

Sustainable Living & Renewable Energy's second annual Slow Foods Dinner is 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Trimmer Outpost, 2276 Main St., Genoa.

The dinner is prepared using sustainably produced organic ingredients, most raised locally by Trimmer Outpost and Nevada Grown.

Cost of $35 includes appetizer, wine or soft drink, entree, dessert, coffee/tea, tax and gratuity. The menu, depending on availability of ingredients, includes Trimmer's Cobb salad, choice of three organic wines. The choice of entrees may include grass-fed braised beef short ribs with onion sauce, Nevada-grown Dijon leg of lamb, vegetarian stuffed mushrooms.

Choice of mashed potatoes or rice pilaf, and vegetable medley. Dessert is rhubarb cobbler with Tahoe Creamery ice cream, coffee from Genoa Coffee Co., tea bread from Russell Mercantile.

One glass of wine is included with dinner. Additional beer, Tahoe Ridge wine and sodas available for purchase.
