Flash flood warning issued for Mono and Alpine counties

A flash flood warning has been issued for Alpine and Mono counties as rainfall of about an inch an hour over the area of the Wolf Creek fire.

The National Weather Service is warning that heavy rain in the steep terrain over the burn area could cause flash flooding and debreis flows in downstream areas.

There is also the possibility of large hail and 60 mph winds.

Lightning set a fire near China Spring at about 4:40 p.m. Saturday.

The fire is on private land and firefighters expected to be out mopping up the blaze for two hours.

Heavy rain fell in Gardnerville at about 5:30 p.m.
