JROTC to help gather Gardnerville flowerpots

The Douglas High School JROTC volunteers, along with members of Main Street Gardnerville and the Town of Gardnerville, will be gathering all the pots and flower baskets on Saturday morning.

The JROTC volunteers will also be helping with some clean-up efforts of certain areas throughout the district. Main Street Gardnerville thanks all who participated in the Main Street Gardnerville flower basket and adopt-a-pot programs this year. Students from both Douglas High School and Smith Valley High School have been involved in the growing of these baskets as part of their floriculture classes. Volunteers with Plant It Nursery in Gardnerville have helped nurture the many pots and baskets that lined the district corridor.

With the community's support, these flowers helped to bring a special touch of charm to the downtown district. Now, the summer is almost over and the flowers need to come in for the season.

If you would like to volunteer to be a part of the Gardeners of Gardnerville, they will be holding their first meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Plant It Nursery, 1346 Centerville Lane across from St. Gall Catholic Church. Contact Main Street Gardnerville, 782-8027, for more information.

Main Street Gardnerville is committed to preserving Gardnerville's historic downtown district as the destination place for Gardnerville residents and tourists who want to eat, drink, shop, gather to meet neighbors, and enjoy cultural activities in a hometown atmosphere.
