Family bicycle tour Saturday

The Discover Carson Valley family bicycle tour presented by the Carson Valley Arts Council is Saturday. Registration is 8:30 a.m. at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 Highway 395, Minden. Refreshments at 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Design your own route with a choice of four routes ranging from 5-25 miles in Minden, Gardnerville, East Valley and Fish Springs. Helmets required.

Cost is $15 for adults, $5 for children under 12, $35 for a family of two adults and related children younger than 12.

Advanced registration recommended at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, at www.cvartscouncil.com or register at the door 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The event was designed and developed by Vicki Hargrove, who participates in bicycle tours around the country.

She said it would be a great for families to do a discovery tour of Carson Valley.

"The best time to tour the Carson Valley by bicycle is when the weather is cooler," said Hargrove.

Riders are given maps and a list of questions with the object to answer as many questions possible.

Refreshments will be served at the completion of the tour at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center.

The tour is designed for single riders and families. Each child under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
