The Minden McDonald's was a busy place Wednesday night as Shane and Victoria Martin accepted prayers and good wishes for Gardnerville girl Becca Martin, who remains unconscious in a Los Angeles hospital room after being hit by a car while on vacation. The restaurant donated 20 percent of its proceeds during the dinner rush 4-8 p.m. to the Martin's cause. A host of other fundraisers are being scheduled.
A Nevada soldier was killed in Iraq on Tuesday. Fernley resident Pfc. Thomas Lyons, 20, a military police officer based out of Fort Richardson, Alaska, in a rocket attack on his convoy.
It will be sunny and warm today with a high of 90 degrees.
